Ive read lost about 301's and to be honest im still in the dark

The reason for the 301 redirect is ive just bout a ".com" to go with my ".co.uk". Id like the .com to go to the .co.uk in the most search engine friendly way. I'm not sure if the way is to simply zap straight there to the .co.uk or to display a web page that looks like the .co.uk but still on .com, and then when any of the links are clicked they all go to the .co.uk site.

Which is best and how do I implement either?

Thanks if you can help

Neil www.image-restore.co.uk just got the .com version!

PS thanks for all your help last time with rounding error i had!

  • is this the correct way for maximum search engine friendliness, this about the 10th code attempt ive used found on the net Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.image-restore.com [NC] RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^(.)$ RewriteRule ^(.)$ http://www.image-restore.co.uk/$1?%1 [R=301,L] However not understanding means im not sure if its right although it works??
