I saw this in source code in the Google Apps Docs pages. What is it?

Really in the source code? or using Firebug to inspect the DOM? a quick google suggests that

<br type="_moz" _moz_dirty=""/>

is added by Mozilla-based browsers to keep open empty elements.

  • Yes, Firebug. michael mcglynn about 7 years ago
  • You are aware that the source in Firebug is after the browser processes it, and that the view source is how the server serves it up aren't you? In other words, the author didn't type this, Gecko added it for it's own purposes. Rich Bradshaw about 7 years ago
  • This distinction between the actual source and the DOM tree presented by Firebug is made all the more obvious when you load firebug and can see the firebug elements added into the HTML at the top orta about 7 years ago
