Using CSS3:

table {border-collapse:collapse}
td {border:1px solid}
td:first-child {border-left:none}
td:last-child {border-right:none}
tr:first-child td {border-top:none}
tr:last-child td {border-bottom:none}

Works in all modern browsers that are not named Internet Explorer. To get compatibility in older browsers or IE you will have to use classes to accomplish the same thing.

Example using CSS3.

And here is an example using classes. (Not as pretty, is it?)
