Hey folks,

Im looking for ways to design a simple and elegant html newsletter. I want to have round cornered border table, and a few images in the content. Any suggestions? Im either looking for some starter free templates that I can use or a really useful editor.

Thanks, -Anil

Campaign Monitor do some nice free templates, as do Mail Chimp

If you build your own, remember that the capabilities of mail clients as opposed to browsers can be extremely lacking, to the point of no background-image support in Outlook 2007+ (!)

This page on Campaign Monitor lists the most common clients and their support for various CSS properties

  • Outlook 2007/2010 support less markup/CSS than earlier versions of Outlook - which may seem backward! Later versions of Outlook use the rendering engine from Word, not IE! w3d almost 8 years ago
  • Indeed. Never thought I'd see the day when I wished the rendering engine in use was that of IE ;) danwellman almost 8 years ago

Oh! Plus, I have heard that you need to use tables, no div tags.

  • yeah, tables are better supported across mail clients danwellman almost 8 years ago
  • You can still use DIV tags. But you will probably need to use tables for layout. w3d almost 8 years ago
