I have a funny feeling this is a stupid question but using Firebug, I just can't seem to isolate the CSS for the drop down menus at www.ctec.ie. The drop down menu link text/page names are too large and I just need to stick a font size value in somewhere...but where!? It's a wordpress menu.

.sf-menu a is set to 20px; in style.css at line 98

you could try:

.sf-menu .sub-menu a{font-size: 12px;}

Which will target just the dropdown list.

Line 95 of your stylesheet is:

.sf-menu a {stuff including font-size: 20px;}

You just need to add a style that goes deeper down the chain:

.sf-menu li ul li a {font-size:14px; PLUS MORE?}

You could technically simplify it to .sf-menu ul a {STUFF} but you'll run in to trouble with cross-browser compatibility. Better to smash navigation over the head specificity in most cases I find.
