I have a flash ad on my web server.

And I have some affiliates who would like to show that ad on their site.

I of course need to be able to edit the ad without my affiliates doing any work, so i'm currently hosting the swf on my webserver.

So my affilicates will just embed the swf file i host, on their site. And i would think that is a good way to do it?

But after fiddling around i saw that other sites were using an iframe, instead of just embedding the flash.

Whats the best way to do this?

Thanks in advance :)

I think there is a wide array of options and arguments to what the best practice is, depending on complexity of the situation. Obviously hosting redundant SWF files on each advertising website seems a bit inelegant of a solution, but using iframes are particularly frowned upon by large numbers of developers as well.

I would probably set something up with AJAX and PHP to pull ads from a central location and avoid the use of iframes. However, this method requires javascript, so even that isn't a cut-and-dry "best method"... Considering all things, you should probably look into the "Google Ad Manager" system. You can do a lot with it.

If you need swf hosting you could also check out mydeo.com as a media server.
