I have a feature slider on my front page. It uses a wordpress plugin that was working okay for me before but now it's not.

I suspect it's either a css/jQuery problem because when I go to view the source code I can see that my images are there??

<div id="vslider">
<a href="http://starportraits.ca/the-show/"><img src="http://starportraits.ca/wp-content/uploads/slider-general-starportraitsreturns.jpg" style="width:820px;height:240px;" alt="" />
            </a>
        <a href="http://starportraits.ca/meet-the-artists/stephen-appleby-barr"><img src="http://starportraits.ca/wp-content/uploads/slider-Suzuki-artist.jpg" style="width:820px;height:240px;" alt="" />
            </a>
        <a href=""><img src="http://starportraits.ca/wp-content/plugins/vslider/images/slide3.jpg" style="width:820px;height:240px;" alt="" />
            </a>

</div>

Here are my vSlider settings:

<!-- Start vSlider Settings -->
<script type="text/javascript">var $jq = jQuery.noConflict(); $jq(document).ready(function() { $jq('#vslider').coinslider({ width: 820, height: 240, spw: 1, sph: 1, delay: 1000, sDelay: 30, opacity: 0.7, titleSpeed: 1500, effect: '', navigation: true, links : true, hoverPause: false }); });</script>
<style type="text/css" media="screen">#vslider { width: 820px; height: 240px;overflow: hidden; position: relative; }#vslider a, #vslider a img {border: none !important; text-decoration: none !important; outline: none !important; }#vslider h4 {color: #FFFFFF !important;margin: 0px !important;padding: 0px !important;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif !important;font-size: 16px !important;}#vslider .cs-title {width: 100%;padding: 10px;background: #222222;color: #FFFFFF  !important;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif !important;font-size: 12px !important;letter-spacing: normal !important;line-height: normal !important;}.cs-prev, .cs-next {font-weight: bold;background: #222222 !important;font-size: 28px !important;font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;color: #FFFFFF !important;padding: 0px 10px !important;-moz-border-radius: 5px;-khtml-border-radius: 5px;-webkit-border-radius: 5px;}</style>

The Net console in Firebug reveals the Slider path is incorrect and you are also calling "Slide3.jpg" which is not being loaded as well. Check the path to both these images and reload the page. Where did you drop the vslider directory? I would guess that is the culprit, it should be in your plugins directory. alt text

  • Wow that totally was a good point! I fixed the folder name (it was vslider 2 instead of "vslider") however it still isn't working...I notice that my google api plugin is calling jQuery as well as Wordpress, maybe that has something to do with it?? redconservatory over 7 years ago
  • Wait, that link is still broken...have to check the plugin code... redconservatory over 7 years ago

The link in vslider.php appears to be wrong, you have to change:

wp_enqueue_script('vslider', WP_CONTENT_URL.'/plugins/vslider/js/vslider.js', $deps = array('jquery'));

to:

wp_enqueue_script('vslider', WP_CONTENT_URL.'/plugins/vslider/js/vslider.js');
