Hey, I am fixing bugs in a website making it viewable in IE6 and IE7, and I came across a wierd bug: When I hover links that are nested inside a div element, the div gets a background color similar to the background color of the site wrapper div, and when the link element is un-hovered, the background color remains until I click elsewhere on the page.

HTML:

    <div>
        <ul>
        <li><a href="index.php">Main</a></li>
        <li>&bull;</li>
        <li><a href="about.php">About</a></li>
        <li>&bull;</li>
        <li><a href="contact.php">Contact</a></li>
        </ul>
    </div>

CSS:

div#footer div{

background-color:transparent;
float:right;
padding:30px 0 0;
width:400px;

} div#footer ul{

text-align:center;

} div#footer ul li{

display:inline;
padding:5px 15px;

} div#footer ul li a{

color:#99C7FF;

} div#footer ul li a:hover, div#footer ul li a:focus{

color:#F7B007;
text-decoration:underline;

}

  • Strange indeed... do you have a live example that we could take a look at? Michael Martin-Smucker over 8 years ago
  • Sure, http://212.150.184.35/~oryc/ . But it's not an English website, so look at the footer, that's the troublesome menu. Dean over 8 years ago
