Hi, I am looking for a secure web album where what I upload is strictly accessible by user I authorize to view them... is such service available? Preferably free or cost very little... : )

Thanks a lot.

  • users can see certain albums? or just certain images within an album? you want hosted or self hosted? more info please... Tony Crockford about 7 years ago
  • I want to album to be private and to be hosted by some service. Tks snackmoore about 7 years ago

I agree with both above, but if you're looking for something hosted on your own site then there are a lot of open-source photo album scripts out there with the security settings you're looking for. Gallery, Coppermine come to mind; you can build your own using a couple of free Dreamweaver extensions and MySQL/PHP scripts for logging in, and control the albums themselves using jQuery plugins (my faves for thumbnail setup are jQuery Tools on http://www.flowplayer.org/tools, and Colorbox http://www.colorpowered.com/colorbox for the pop-up window)

  • Just checked out the flowplayer... Wow... tools at such high quality for free... amazing works! Good to know great tools like this are available if and when I need them. Thanks for the recommendation. snackmoore about 7 years ago

Try Picasa Web Albums:

  • Both Picasa and Flickr are great online photo album, but would google and yahoo use the content for their search even if I mark them private to public? snackmoore about 7 years ago
  • If you designate an album "public," anyone who visits your public gallery will see your album. If you designate an album "unlisted," those photos will not appear in your public gallery but can be seen by someone who knows the URL. This setting can be changed by clicking on the "Edit Album Properties" link in the Album. Tony Crockford about 7 years ago

Previous answers are all great. One more self-hosted package is ZenPhoto.
