I have been adding some SEO touches to a client site and noticed an odd behavior with the navigation.

The site

The HTML:

  <li><a class="info" href="#">Information-Education</a>
        <ul>
            <li><a class="faq-oriental" href="{site_url}information/faq">FAQ: Oriental Medicine</a></li>
            <li><a class="faq-eft" href="{site_url}information/eft_hypnosis_faq">FAQ: EFT &amp; Hypnosis</a></li>
            <li><a class="audio" href="{site_url}information/audio">Audio</a></li>
            <li><a class="video" href="{site_url}information/video">Video</a></li>
            <li><a class="presentations" href="{site_url}information/presentations">Presentations</a></li>
            <li><a class="news" href="{site_url}information/news">Chinese Medicine News</a></li>
            <li><a class="articles" href="{site_url}information/published_articles">Published Articles</a></li>
        </ul>
    </li>
    <li><a class="clinics" href="#">Clinics-Practitioners</a>
        <ul>
            <li><a class="ohs-nc" href="{site_url}clinics/ohs_north_carolina">OHS North Carolina</a></li>
        </ul>
    </li>
    <li><a class="forms" href="{site_url}forms/">Forms</a></li>

The problem is with Clinics-Practitioners when you click on Information-Education above it. The text truncates and bumps up into the line above it so that Published Articles and Clinics-Practitioners are sharing a line.

I would really appreciate some help here.

Thanks.

On line 72 of the file ohs_styles.css you have this line:

.articles { float: left; }

Delete that line and it fixes the menu problem.

Actually, it looks like that line was supposed to apply somewhere else on your site, but you reused the class name in the menu. Changing the class name for the menu item "Published Articles" will accomplish the same thing without affecting the rest of your site!

In general, try to avoid class-itis. If you don't need a unique class to style an element, don't add one.
