It's probably because the dns records have been cached somewhere and will take a while to update. If you are ever stuck and have to force your computer to connect, you can manually edit your hosts file (like a local overidding DNS record just for your computer) http://support.modwest.com/kb.phtml?qid=52. You can find how to do the same thing on OSX as well.

A while is usually 24-48 hours, but it can be made shorter by lowering something called ttl (time to live)

Sorry if too much geeky information! Let me know if you want any more info.

  • Thanks. I have actually viewed my page on another laptop at a Starbucks outlet and it shows fine. I will do the manual edit of my host file on my base computer. Regards rodney oleshin about 8 years ago

If you're using Windows the command to clear your local DNS cache is: ipconfig /flushdns within CMD.

The site show up just right for me.

I agree with Chris that it's probably a cached DNS record, and it can take up to 48 hours before a new DNS record is updated on all DNS servers.

The TTL of a DNS record can be set to a shorter time, but that has to be done 48 hours before the record is updated to be effective.
