My designer made this background in photoshop and forget how she made it! So, I've been given the task of recreating it. I've come close by adding a layer effect>gradient to my pen stroke with pen pressure and applying a radial blur>zoom. However, it's just not the same.

Perhpas, one of you will know where I'm going wrong.

Thanks

  • also I use quickmask to paint certain areas to be blurred. Nothing I've done has made it look the same. Adam almost 2 years ago

  • My opinion is you'll find this a hard question to answer since there isn't really a single way to do it. I'll post how I would, but there are probably other, and better, ways to accomplish this. Ktash almost 2 years ago

If I were to try and recreate this, I would go about it in a very manual way. I would simple use the pen tool to create each of the "strands" as a path (create both the top and bottom pieces independently and then connect them outside the canvas), and then place them as masks on separate layers. Each layer can have its own gradient coloring, and from there manually burn and lighten the areas which are supposed to be "twisted". From the looks of it, you could probably even get away with only making the "strand" once and then moving it to different areas when you apply the mask.

But maybe if you could say why you're remaking it, we can help a bit more specifically.
