I'm trying to save to a single HTML file my Facebook profile page with everything I've ever posted to FB with friends' comments expanded. Someone said to right-click the root in Firefox Firebug, copy to notepad, and save. Unfortunately, when I try to later load that file into my browser it starts rendering correctly then my Firebox tab viewing the gets filled up with LOTS of garbage.

Is there another way to Save As... the current DOM?

This works for me:

use the View Source Chart plug-in for firefox, select all the text in the chart window, paste to a text editor, save as facebook.html

viewing it later works fine.

(the html it saves isn't as valid as it should be with a lot of escaped characters, bu you could clean them up in the text editor before saving)

In Firefox, hit Ctrl-A (or Edit->Select All), then right-click->View Selection Source. That will display the current DOM. Save it from there or copy+paste into a text editor. You will have to add the DOCTYPE back in.
