Okay I am very new to this so all help - very descriptive! - would be much appreciated. The Spry menu in my website created with Dreamweaver, moves to the center of the page and pushes main content down. This only seems to occur in IE 7 and below. Site looks pretty good - if not completely the same - on IE 8, Firefox, Safari, Chrome etc.

I've tried all kinds of ideas to fix it but to no avail. Any ideas? Suggestions? Website is www.sheilabarrie.com

Previous to Internet Explorer 8, for the IE browsers ANY element that is being positioned with float:left; or float:right; has to have a width specified. I bet you were having the issue in Opera, too. It's good practice to always size floating elements, at least by percentage.

Here is your problematic CSS code:

.twoColLiqLtHdr #sidebar1 {
float: left;
width: auto; /* since this element is floated, a width must be given */

This is on line 40 in the CSS file "twoColLiqLtHdr.css".

You need to specify an actual width for the sidebar like this:

width: 160px;

Gary - thank you SO much, you are a life saver! I saw the line but did not connect the dots. The site is now working in IE 6-8 plus FF, Safari, Chrome and Opera (I did not have Opera before but I downloaded it to try the website.)

It is still wrong in IE5.5 but I'm not too worried about that - how many people can really still be using 5.5???? THANKS AGAIN!!
