We did this site on a shoestring as a favor for a good cause. The block quotes in the sidebar render well in every browser but in IE 8 they default to the body content styles. http://www.cravingscabaret.com We're using the Stray Random Quotes plugin in Wordpress. Any help is appreciated

There is a JS error on the page, it says

HTML Parsing Error: Unable to modify the parent container element before the child element is closed (KB927917)

It has a KB number so is presumably a known bug. Look up thge KB number on the microsoft support site and it may list a resolution.

Probably down to the plugin authors to resolve permanently, but you may be able to find a work-around. Short of that, maybe another wordpress plugin would not have this issue :)

  • s I mentioned to the other respondent, I think I fixed this. I turned of the ajax in the plugin which added an extra div. I see it fine on my browsers and ran it through Litmusapp rendering. If you have a moment I added a comment below and am interested in your opinion. Dan Green over 7 years ago

I'm curious on opinions about how critical validation is. We find it almost impossible to totally validate all code when using a variety of plugins in Wordpres-some come with quite a few errors of their own and don't always play nice with each other. It seems less critical than in earlier days. We are getting phenomenal SEO on most of our projects results and see many well ranked sites with quite a few errors.

For some weird reason the Sidebar just isn't there. If you analyze it with IE Tester and DebugBar the div art-sidebar2 is missing in the IE interpreted source code.

It doesn't work at all in IE7 for me. I get an not helpful alert an then the page disappears.

I'm curious if you are still not seeing it in IE7-we're not experiencing that. Dan Green over 7 years ago
