Is there a free web service that will generate screenshots of a site for older versions of IE? Something like the screenshots for this site, but without having to ask a question about the shot.

I'm developing a small web-site pro-bono and would like to double check that I didn't use any CSS that breaks older IE versions, which I don't currently have any access to physically.

There are services that do this, like Browser Shots but I often find that I need to test functionality as well, so I usually prefer to have a working copy of IE 6 and 7. If you have windows 7, its fairly easy, but if you don't have windows 7, and want to run it, Microsoft provides VM copies of XP for testing things in IE 6 and 7.

It should also be noted that these VM copies expire after a given time, but they post new ones a few days after the previous ones expire.

There are some tools outlined here: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2010/06/04/cross-browser-testing-a-detailed-review-of-tools-and-services/

Personally, I used VirtualBox to have separate standalone install of IE.

It's not a web service, but I use IE Tester.
