I need to place some music in my page (this is a website for a band), however I've never needed to do this before. My aging HTML book informs me to use the <embed> tag, however I haven't seen the Windows Media Player box it generates on the page for ages - is it not used anymore, or is there a better HTML equivalent? I believe most music is now provided by Flash, however I don't have access to Adobe Flash CS4. Could someone point me in the right direction here?

Check out this website, it's super easy to create, just follow the tutorial and play MP3's on the web in no time. It uses a flash player that is already built. You just need to upload the MP3, a .js file and a .swf file and its done. A great tool.
