I have a horizontal ordered list with long list items. How do I get the list items to wrap at word boundaries rather than at list item boundaries?

Here is the site

  • I'm searching for a cross-browser solution. The screenshot was from Firefox but Chrome isn't even displaying the list item numbers. Joshua Jacobson over 8 years ago
  • List item numbers will often disappear when you change it like you have. For example, my solution removes them if FF. If that's a problem, then you'll probably have to find a different way to do what you're trying to do. Ktash over 8 years ago

You want it to display inline. So, the code:

/* No power in the */ .verse /* can stop me */ li {
    display: inline;

(Or, a clean copy):

.verse li {
    display: inline;
