When I select a button and go to the Actions window, it says "the current selection cannot have actions aplied to it" What do I do to make the Actions work, so that the button can be linked to open another page?

This site isn't for Adobe Flash related questions. Only stuff about HTML, CSS and web design. But I recomend that you to pick up a book about ActionScript (2 or 3). :)

But I can give you a frebee:

  • Create a movie clip (i.e. through Ctrl+F8)
  • Return to to Scene 1 (or whatever is you base scene) Drag the movieclip from the Library to the Stage
  • Select it and go to the Properties panel
  • In the instance name box, fill in something like myclip_mc
  • Create a new layer and name it something like Script and lock it
  • With the new layer selected open the Actions panel and type:

    myclip_mc.onRelease = function() { getURL('http://foo.bar'); }

That's the very basics of it all. Now have a function that executes something when the movieclip is clicked.

If you don't follow me I think you need to read some more first, so go get that book :)
